The Base Factor Shapes Rotation

In TileDreams, the base factor is a whole integer (between 5 and 9) that is used to generate the 25 polygons, and is used to determine the amount of rotation available at any point.

Change the Base Factor by modifying the whole number on the toolbar base_shapemenu.gif (1996 bytes).  Note the adjoining shape-menu may change to reflect your choice, if it is different.

When you set the Base Factor, TileDreams will generate a menu of shapes, called a tile set.  This tile set will include the natural polygon (ie: Base Factor 5 yields a pentagon), anwhere from 2 to 4 separate rhombuses, and an equilateral triangle.  The equilateral triangle is included as an artistic accent, though it will fit naturally in designs that include Base Factors 6 or 9.   TileDreams will also calculate an amount of rotation, called an Angle Unit.   This Angle Unit is equal to 360o / (Base Factor * 2).  Users have control to within 1/2 of an angle-unit, when rotating tiles or groups of tiles.

All angles shown in degrees.  TileDreams performs calculations internally using radians.
