An understanding of geometry is NOT necessary to use TileDreams, but it certainly won't hurt. TileDreams does not interface with other graphic programs directly. The registered version of TileDreams will allow you to save your designs as a Windows bitmap (.BMP) file. TileDreams saves designs as a series of coordinate points, and color-assignments, in a regular ASCII text file. To this extent, it can serve as a useful tool for students of geometry . The resulting designs are your commercial-free creations, and are suited for use as quilt patterns, stained-glass designs, ceramic-tile layouts, needlework projects, silkscreens, etc. TileDreams uses trigonometric functions to plot the points, color, and outline-width of your chosen shapes on the screen. The shapes can be rotated at precise intervals, allowing for very quick creation of unique patterns. Unlike many other geometry-themed software titles, TileDreams is not a software-kaleidoscope that will give you a finished image with by changing some parameters and clicking a button. TileDreams relies on the creativity of the user, not the power of the computer, to yield pleasing results. |
