Place a Tile
Left click the mouse in the display area to copy the tile attached to the mouse-cursor
to the point you clicked. Your tile should appear where you clicked. If you
don't see a tile following your mouse, you could have tiles selected. Selected tiles
will appear in the defined highlight color. To clear any selections from memory,
press [ESC].
Align a Tile with Another Tile
By default, TileDreams will compare the mouse position with the design. If the
mouse gets within X pixels of an existing tile's vertex, the current-tile will switch to a
highlighted state. X is determined by the value of the Detect Vertex control.
This can be helpful if the design is intricate, or (alternately) if you are unfortunate
enough to have an imprecise or dirty mouse.
If you click when the tile is highlighted, the new tile will share the detected
vertex with the existing tile.
Tile Alignment is not enabled when repositioning tiles
Select a Tile
Click the right mouse-button inside a tile. When you let go the mouse-button, the
tile will appear highlighted. You can continue to add selections in this manner.
Select a Group of Tiles
Click the right mouse-button, and drag the mouse while keeping the button pressed.
This will draw a dashed box in the highlight color that follows your moving mouse.
All the other tile-outlines will appear dashed and in the highlight color during
tile selection. You will have selected any tiles the dashed line intersected, as
well as any tiles contained by the outline-box.
Reposition a Tile or Group of Tiles
When tiles are selected, they can be repositioned by clicking the left mouse-button and
dragging. Let go the mouse to drop the tiles back on the display.
Color cloning allows you to reassign a color using elements in TileDreams, without
requiring the use of either palette. To clone a color, press and hold the [CTRL]
key. The current-tile will no longer follow the mouse, giving you an unobstructed
view of the design area. When you have identified the color you want to clone, click
it with the left mouse button. The results of your click will be determined by the
Palette Focus, and whether you had tiles selected.
Tool Tips
Many of the screen controls lack labels. This is to maintain an uncluttered
workspace. There are so few controls, that within 2 minutes, nobody would really
need them labeled. To remind yourself of a tool's function, hover the mouse over it
and a helpful description should clear things up.
